Technical Editing

Technical editing for knitting patterns involves reviewing and refining patterns to ensure clarity, accuracy, and comprehensibility. This process not only helps eliminate errors and inconsistencies in the pattern but also enhances the overall quality of the final product. For designers, having a technical editor means their patterns are more likely to be understood and used correctly by knitters, ultimately leading to greater satisfaction and reduced customer support issues.

What's included?

Your design will be meticulously reviewed to ensure clarity and accuracy including the stitch counts and measurements, consistency in terminology, abbreviations, as well as gauge discrepancies, and suggested needle sizes. Finally, a thorough proofread is conducted to catch any grammatical or typographical errors, ensuring the final pattern is polished and ready for publication. Included in the quotation will be a review of the changes once made.

What I Need From You

To provide an accurate initial quote, I require access to the pattern that needs editing. Once the quote is accepted and the work is set to begin, I will also need either a knitted sample or photographs of the finished item. This process ensures that I fully understand the scope of the project and can deliver the best results. Clear visuals of the pattern and the completed piece help me to align my work with your expectations, ultimately leading to a successful collaboration.

I am also happy to have a video call to ensure that I fully understand your requirements.
